Call for submissions for FOLQUÉBEC showcase at the OCFF conference – Ottawa, Ontario October 14-17 2010

For the OCFF Conference (Ontario Council of Folk Festivals) from October 14-17 2010, Folquébec continues its mission to bring Quebec artists visibility on the national and international scene.

Reminder: FOLQUÉBEC is a Québec-registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and diffusion of folk music made in Québec.

FOLQUÉBEC invites artists to apply to showcase at the 2010 OCFF conference.

The jury will select 8 artists, who will have the opportunity to play:

- During the OCFF in Ottawa, either Friday, October 15, or Saturday, October 16

Each artist will receive: A showcase of 20 minutes and the possibility of the presence of national and international presenters.

Call for submissions Folquébec offWOMEX showcase

for the WOMEX Conference – Copenhagen, Denmark

27-31 October 2010

Deadline: Monday, July 5, 2010

On the occasion of the International Conference of world music, WOMEX 27-31 October 2010, FOLQUÉBEC continues its commitment to organize the visibility and influence of artists from here and from the international scene.

FOLQUÉBEC is a non-profit organization registered in Quebec and dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of traditional folk music and dance created in Quebec.

FOLQUÉBEC invites artists this year to submit their candidature to attend WOMEX.

The jury will select three artists who will have the opportunity to play:

When: OFFWOMEX, Copenhagen, Thursday October 28 or Friday October 29 or Saturday, October 30 in a beautiful room presenting the official Showcases.

Each artist performs: a show of 45 minutes on stage Off Womex which holds 150 seats with the possibility of the presence of major international promoters.

Submissions : Showcase Folquébec at La Grande Rencontre

La Grande Rencontre

Showcase submissions for Folquébec in partnership with the festival La Grande Rencontre. Folquébec is inviting artists to submit their application to participate in the Showcases for the festival La Grande Rencontre.

A jury will select a total of 8 artists from Traditional, Folk and World Beat music, who will have the opportunity of playing :

  • During the festival La Grande Rencontre, in Montreal, Saturday August 7 et Sunday August 8 (afternoon performances)
  • Each artist chosen: will have a 30 minute showcase on the stage of Théâtre Calixa-Lavallée (Parc Lafontaine-125 places) and will have the possiblitly of presenting at a Traditional Cabaret at the Festival Club from 11pm to 2am.

Folquébec invites APAP attendees to a tasty avant-goût of upcoming Québec showcases at the conference, replete with hors d’œuvres and a warm Québec welcome plus an exciting sneak preview of great Québéc music that straddles world, folk and trad genres. Join the Folquébec team : Heidi Fleming (FamGroup), Gilles Garand (EspaceTrad), Geneviève Nadeau (Roues et Archets), Marc Labelle (Amerix) and musical guest emcees Chic Gamine, a highly original world a capella group featuring four soulful female singers and a dynamic percussionist for a Québécois « soirée à New York ».  Stop by our booth to pick up a new compilation disc and discover many more wonderful Québec artists! Sponsored by the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition Féminine du Québec and the Quebéc Delegation in New York.
